Chris Hood is a graduate of Dalhousie University in Halifax, NS and has been involved in the paramedic field for 30 years. During that time, he has been a practitioner, an educator, an operational manager, a senior government bureaucrat, and now as a regulator of paramedic practice. Chris is the Executive Director / Registrar of the Self-Regulatory Licensing Body for paramedic practice in New Brunswick, Canada and the President of the Paramedic Association of Canada. His career has taken him from the East Coast to the West Coast of Canada and back.
He has been awarded the Governor General EMS Exemplary Services Medal with First Bar, the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal and the provincial 30 year-long service award for his work in the paramedic profession.
Chris has led and/or been active on a number of Local, Provincial, and National Paramedic Committees including the Canadian Paramedic Profile Steering Committee, the Defence Research Development Canada Paramedic Community of Practice Committee, the Physician Assistants Certification Council of Canada, and various Standards development Working Groups and Steering Committees for the Canadian Standards Association.
