Summary
Dr. Simon Hatcher and the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute are inviting family members of public safety personnel (PSP) who have died by suicide to share their experiences in a confidential research interview. The goal is to understand what happens before and after such a loss, including access to care, barriers, supports, and interactions with employers.
What’s involved
- One 60–90 minute interview (in-person or via MS Teams)
- Topics: your experiences before and after the death, support systems, and recommendations
- Voluntary participation
- $50 thank-you (gift card or cheque)
Eligibility
Must be 18 + years of age; Family members of PSP (e.g., police, paramedics, firefighters, corrections, dispatch, etc.) who died by suicide and are willing to share experiences in a confidential interview.
