Participate in Research: Experiences of Families After a Public Safety Personnel Suicide

Summary

Dr. Simon Hatcher and the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute are inviting family members of public safety personnel (PSP) who have died by suicide to share their experiences in a confidential research interview. The goal is to understand what happens before and after such a loss, including access to care, barriers, supports, and interactions with employers.

What’s involved

  • One 60–90 minute interview (in-person or via MS Teams)
  • Topics: your experiences before and after the death, support systems, and recommendations
  • Voluntary participation
  • $50 thank-you (gift card or cheque)

Eligibility

Must be 18 + years of age; Family members of PSP (e.g., police, paramedics, firefighters, corrections, dispatch, etc.) who died by suicide and are willing to share experiences in a confidential interview.
