Garnet Families Interactive Series: Bringing families into the frame – Where do Garnet Families fit in suicide prevention?

About this discussion

This interactive virtual event invites participants to look at suicide and suicide prevention through a broader lens that brings families into the frame.

Families are often seen as a “risk” or “protective” factor or as responsible for keeping their family members safe, rather than as people who also need attention and support themselves. Drs. Heidi Cramm, Christine Genest, and Margaret Campbell will highlight key issues that have emerged through their development of the Inside Suicide Podcast, which explores on where and how families fit in suicide prevention within defence and public safety occupational communities.

This is an open event and all are welcome. Please note: registration is required. Information gathered from this event will play a vital role in growing a community that will serve and support Garnet Families across Canada. Following the event, attendees will be asked to complete a survey to inform the format, frequency, and themes of future Garnet Families activities. This event is presented in English with the option of French subtitles.
