A Correctional Officer with the Correctional Service of Canada since 1996, Gord has also served as the Second National Vice President for the Union of Canadian Correctional Officers since May 2016. Prior to his current position, he served as the Pacific Regional President for UCCO-SACC-CSN from 2007 to 2016.
As a front line Correctional Officer and as a union representative, Gord has seen first-hand the effects that Operational Stress Injuries have on his colleagues and knows that the only way we can help is to advance the research, prevention and treatment of these injuries. While working closely with the management of the CSC, they have collectively moved many ideas forward, such as R2MR training for every member, and they will continue to push for assistance for Correctional Officers through proper funding and dedicated support.
