Tyler Geikie, M.HK, is a Research Associate and member of the Knowledge Mobilization (KMb) team within the Canadian Institute for Pandemic Health Education & Response (CIPHER). He holds a Bachelor of Psychology [Honours] from the University of Windsor. His SSHRC-funded graduate research (Master of Human Kinetics, University of Windsor), specializing in Sport, Exercise, and Physical Activity Psychology, examined the relationship between imagery use and resiliency/mental toughness in adolescent athletes.

He values the importance of sports programming for youth and appreciates the myriad of positive youth development research that examines what it means to be a good coach, how to structure lesson plans, and how to constructively interact with youth to build their self-confidence and self-efficacy; he is a proud coach of youth soccer. During his graduate studies, he also attended several seminars on group dynamics and leadership in sports – he aims to take his knowledge and experience and apply it to his current role by providing empathic and tailored KMb solutions to several PHAC-funded projects.

He is fascinated by how academic research findings are applied to the real world. There is the belief that academic health intervention research can take up to 17 years to translate to, and influence, real-world practice. It is one of his career goals to use his research and people skills to bridge the gap between innovative, solutions-focused academic findings and bring these findings to organizations and the public, in a useful medium. He is honoured to work with CIPHER and CIPSRT to help PSP, HCW, and their families receive access to evidence-informed resources and trusted information.

Tyler has a loving partner and 3 rescue dogs. He enjoys hiking, is quite fond of rocks – and is known to climb them occasionally, with and without rope.
