The Road to Mental Readiness (R2MR) program was created by the Department of National Defence (DND) to build awareness of mental illness and operational stress injuries (OSIs) through education, to reduce the stigma associated with mental illness, and to increase understanding and support for these conditions. The goal of R2MR is to improve short term performance and long-term mental health outcomes in Public Safety Personnel (PSP). Research has shown that R2MR provides a benefit to public safety personnel (PSP) in terms of short-term psychological functioning, resilience, and attitudes toward mental health and help seeking.
CIPSRT, with the support of Public Safety Canada and DND, has begun to facilitate R2MR training across the country. By partnering with PSP organizations who look at training as a component of improving workplace mental health, CIPSRT can advance PSP wellbeing.
CIPSRT has been monitoring the COVID-19 outbreak and global health crisis. Considering the potential impact on attendees, staff, and facilitators across the country, CIPSRT is currently not endorsing any internal training or scheduling any publicly funded R2MR training at this time.
