Christine Genest

Christine Genest is a nurse and researcher. She is an associate professor at the Nursing Faculty of Université de Montreal. She is also a regular researcher at the Centre for Research and Intervention on Suicide, Ethical Issues and End-of-Life Practices and at the Centre d’études sur le trauma of the Centre de recherche de l’Institut universitaire de santé mentale de Montréal. Her research focuses on suicide prevention, particularly among public safety personnel and professionals exposed to potentially traumatic events. Her projects aim to better understand how suicidal behaviours develop among these professionals by adopting an ecosystemic vision of suicide. She also collaborates on research projects that aim to promote the role of the nurse in suicide prevention through the use of the safety plan or the joint crisis plan, among other things. She is also interested in the use of virtual reality as a tool to reduce procedural anxiety.
