Support you can hold in your hands
Every day, Canada’s first responders and other public safety personnel (PSP) face stressors that most people never see.
Critical incidents, moral injury, posttraumatic stress (PTS), and posttraumatic stress injuries (PTSI) can take a toll on mental health and overall wellbeing. You don’t have to navigate this alone.
We have more than 30 free printed materials to support mental wellbeing across every sector. This includes border services, corrections, communications, emergency management, fire, operational intelligence, paramedics, policing, and search and rescue.
Whether you’re looking for information about depression, anxiety, sleep disruptions, suicidal thoughts, or ways to recognize when a wellness check or welfare check might be needed, our resources are here to help.
In 2018, then Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale set aside federal funds to champion the mental health and wellbeing of PSP. The Canadian Institute for Public Safety Research and Treatment—CIPSRT—was formed as a result. Today, we provide leading tools and therapies with help from mental health workers, peer support teams, and leading Canadian experts.
Our materials offer practical therapy tools, evidence-informed insights, and clear paths to mental health treatment. They’re created for those who serve, as well as the families and peers who walk beside them.
If you or someone you care about is facing a mental health crisis, exploring treatment options, or simply wanting to understand the impact of operational stress, our resources can help you take those next steps. You’ll also find information about supports such as the Canada-wide helpline and peer networks dedicated to public safety communities.
You deserve mental health tools that support you—wherever you are, whenever you need them. Whether you’re experiencing a mental health crisis from a single critical incident or an accumulation of workplace stressors, our printed materials are topical, engaging, and easy-to-understand. These therapy tools and resources will be shipped to your home or workplace completely free of charge.
At CIPSRT, your mental health matters. Whether you need a welfare check, are facing a mental health crisis, or want everyday tools to support your wellbeing, we’re here for you. Our goal is to connect you with peer support and help you access therapy tools designed for PSP and their families. We’re here to support and guide you on your healing path.
